The Worst Rolex Video Ever

If horses have taught me anything, it's that you can't learn how to ride standing on the ground.  One of my goals for Eventing Nation is for us to aggressively use video to connect with our readers.  Today I took the first baby step towards that goal by filming a short walk I took through the Horse Park on Thursday night during the WEG dressage test event musical freestyle, which, incidentally, Tina Konyot ended up winning.

Filming: 45 minutes
Figuring out how to upload and edit the video: 3 hours
The final product: anything but priceless

Please leave your suggestions in the comment section, but, off the top of my head, it needs a soundtrack, the camera shakes like I'm on crystal meth, I need to pronounce "Kentucky Horse Park" using more than one syllable, and it has a considerably less developed "plot" than Hot Tub Time Machine.

At least it didn't look like this, right?

Great Video! Keep 'em coming!

Cool video! Is the "pond" before or after the first water jump?

Definitely NOT the worst Rolex video ever! Thanks so much for putting this together - loved it!

My guess is that the WEG course is going to feature the "pond" prominently. The course designer didn't want to give away his design - and there isn't enough time to prepare the ground etc. if you had a different complex for Rolex then had to tear it out to put in new stuff for WEG.

Good video! For someone who hasn't been lucky enough to go to Rolex yet (to watch! DUH, lol) it was really nice to get a 'lay of the land'. I had no idea the head of the lake was RIGHT there next to the stands and all that. Very cool! And ps. WAY better than my favorite 'worst riding-best pony on the face of the planet' video!!!

Thanks for doing this John. Really cool video! I like it.

Thanks John, I'm happy to hear narration by someone so knowledgeable - please continue.

It was a good video. And GREAT to see some of the fences "in person" as it were! It was interesting to see a purpose built facility like this, because I've never really seen anything like it in the UK. I'd love to visit this event one day.

Actually I think that video is pretty good. I would just never use the word peeps ever again...either on tape or in person. The editing was actually pretty good. Hope you keep it up!

I'm more upset about the fact you know Hot Tub Time Machine doesn't have a plot...GREAT JOB, keep it up!

Curious... how do you know that's how your hands shake on crystal meth?

That was a great video! I've watched tonnes of Rolex vids, and that's one of my favourites! Keep it up! I wish I were there, and your videos will make me feel like I am.
(and you have a great voice for commentary.)

I really enjoyed - you made me laugh, you made me watch and you had TONS of info that you can never ever find on any other Rolex video.
I agree with above - please keep these kind of videos coming. They are REAL and HONEST and show what it is really like there.
The best kind!!!
