Happy Father's Day
At MayDaze this year, there was a dad across the aisle from us who made a mountain of bacon and pancakes on Saturday morning. I'm not sure where that fits into the above categories, but we called him The Baconator. He was pretty proud of the breakfast he cooked up and the aroma through the barns was intoxicating. I believe that the key to any good XC ride is pork products and white bread and he helped me accomplish that goal! We even offered to trade him beer for bacon, but like any good parent he gave selflessly without expecting anything in return. Thanks, Baconator!
Funny, I was just watching the US Open with my dad today telling him how a golf course is just screaming to be made into a cross-country course.
That video perfectly illustrates why I dislike the Italian team so much... seams like they spend more time rolling around on the pitch faking injury than they do playing quality ball.
My dad doesn't get it.....he thinks it is a waste of money and he has always claimed that I get no exercise from riding......Hmmph! The one time he's come to a competition my horse with a big ol' poophead and that didn't help my case at all.
My dad is a combination of all four. He is definitely hands on. He's learned about horses over the many years I've had them, and since we have our own farm now, he confidently leads them and handles them. At a show, he'll hand graze my horse while I walk the cross country and he can load him on the trailer too.
He also complains that all of his weekends are spent at horse shows, when he would rather be golfing. But he does enjoy the competitive nature of eventing. He'll analyze the scoreboard and tell me how many rails I have in hand, or how far I've moved up on the leaderboard.
He also finances some of the horse expenses. And he's become an expert with the video camera. We don't go to a show without one. His hand has gotten steadier over the years on cross country!
I hate soccer players that act out, but he looked like he just had a leg cramp and went down. Played soccer for 18 yrs and most of the us were eating banana's on the sideline during games because you could cramp so badly.

"considers the cross-country course a wasted opportunity to build a golf course" haha that's awesome. I cross a golf course quite often to get to work and every time I imagine XC jumps on it. Golfers and eventers- they're similar than we thought!
Literally lol-ed at that football video, what a drama queen.
