18 horses arrive by plane at Rebecca Farm
Flying with horses to Europe was one of the coolest experiences for me. I think the horses flew more comfortably than me! They ate, drank, and had the most ho-hum attitude.
Montana has a great, GREAT horsemanship tradition. I competed at the infield hunter course at Kalispell in the late 70's and early 80's in the state's only recognized horse show! In history, the great cattle ranches all raised good horses not only to work the stock, but often to race, and compete... There were not very many people who enjoyed jumping, hunters, shows, dressage or eventing, but the ones that did were great evangelists and encouraged everyone around them to participate. People like Susie Dix in Spokane, like Cindy and Debbie Burge (Cindy passed away several years ago tragically -- she was a huge eventing promoter in the west, I knew her as a friend, and competed at her Deep Creek farm's 2nd event, which ran 22 years.) The people that support eventing, that really love the sport, are often found in places like Kalispell, Montana, and New Mexico, and Texas, and far away from what we may think of as the Eventing Meccas of the east coast. It is a wonderful place for horses, and full of people who appreciate great horsemanship from centuries of experience. Welcome to western hospitality!
Wow, that's amazing. I have been teaching my horse how to load into a regular 2-horse trailer. And he thinks it's super scary, lol. If I were to try putting him on an airplane... Obviously all seasoned competitors.
What good, good horses. Best luck to all.
Becky Broussard is one of the greatest supporters of eventing in this country. She is truly a class act and has done a phenomenal amount for the sport.
That being said, it's a bit insulting to her to call this a "PRO Flight to Montana" - it wasn't just for PRO members, and it was sponsored not for the organization, but for the reasons discussed above in the article. PRO can't seem to help itself trying to self-promote its own limited interests, when it could have been supporting the sport as a whole or honoring Becky.
Here Here on Becky Broussard, our sport is SOOOO lucky to have the Broussard family involved, amazing and wonderful people.
Rebecca Farm is also a World Cup Qualifier - I think many that are not on the list for the WEG are aiming high for the World Cup!
Good luck to all, and glad to see they are flighing with Kalitta, one very fine company based out of Ypsilanti MI!!!
That is very cool! I am attending Rebecca for the first time to help my friends in the vet box of the Prelim 3-Day and I am SO excited! Can't wait to see all the big names in action :-)
Agree with anonymous that this was not a PRO flight! PRO has to try to make everything about them. EN, can't you correct the titles to make clear that it was Mrs. Broussard who funded the flight, not PRO?
I didn't name the videos, nor do I have any control over the names of the videos. I'm sympathetic to that viewpoint, but not particularly worried about it considering that we made it abundantly clear in the article where the funding came from. Also, when anonymous agrees with a complaint from anonymous it's not going to make me particularly receptive to the idea.

Thanks Rebecca for everything you do for our sport! Good luck to everyone competing and here's hoping for one fabulous competition!
